flashrom software package provides Identify, read, write, erase, and verify BIOS/ROM/flash chips, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install flashrom
flashrom is installed in your system.
Make ensure the flashrom package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep flashrom *
You will get with flashrom package name, version, architecture and description in a table
